Description

Life of a kind arose on Earth within half a billion years of the planet's formation. For the next three billion years, unicellular organisms ruled the planet. Some fed off the fermentation of chemicals in the oceans. Some fed off sunlight and photosynthesis. Still others were carnivorous, eating anything smaller than themselves. This is their story.

Specifically, it's the story of one of their number, on a quest to eat as much food and survive as long as possible without being eaten by anything bigger than itself. A fast-paced arcade variation on fish-eat-fish games, with a dash of strategy to spice it up (managing your health and knowing when to attack the other cells). Also some other items that I haven't told you about.

This was made for the first official Sigma Nine competition. The theme was "Earth in the Past", and the game had to be developed in 24 hours total. I didn't use that deadline to its full extent :P, and the game has less features in it than I would have liked, but it's still surprisingly addictive.

Uses Game Maker's built-in high score system. If I win, I will add online high scores.

Nice idea! Multiplayer would be difficult, since it's mouse-controlled, but I did have the intention of adding online highscores if I got enough of a positive response.

Oh, the 24 hour thing. I thought you meant there was some rule about rating and commenting on the other entries :P

Interesting. I enjoyed this although it did get a little repetitive. Was nicely polished as LEG said. I'd rate this 80/100 under the competitions conditions.

It's pretty simple, nothing too exciting but it had some nice polish and was well put together. 50/100
